Northern Virginia
Northern Virginia biking is comprised of a myriad of urban trails along the Potomac River and throughout the Distinct of Columbia, as well as quiet backroads through Virginia horse country, vineyards, and Civil War battlefields. The 45-mile W&OD Trail is one of the premier trails in Northern Virginia. As you might imagine, history abounds from George Washington’s home, Mount Vernon, to the Fredericksburg Civil War parks including Chancellorsville where Stonewall Jackson was fatally shot. Northern Virginia boasts a large concentration of wineries which can be visited by bike.
